The times I spent in the kitchen in the summer with my mother and my grandmother making jams, butters and jellies was special indeed. The sweet smells, the heaping bowls of fresh fruit, the beautiful rich and vivid colors are a clear picture in my memory.
Pear Butter was one of my favorites, not for its taste (which was marvelous) but for its color – snowy white in summer! Strawberry Jam was the family favorite , however, so there were heaps of strawberries to be washed and hulled. This collection celebrates the joy of summer and of memories of special times with family.
