Hi, it’s Karen here from SnickerdoodleDesigns with an Inspiration Challenge for you.

The end of one year and the beginning of another is always a time of reflection for me.

I stopped making “New Year’s Resolutions” many, many years ago because I always felt like a failure if I didn’t achieve everything on my list.  The solution seemed to be….. don’t make New Year’s Resolutions.

I eventually learned that avoidance was not a good solution.  Setting realistic, achievable goals was.

I believe that goals must:

  • Be clear and measureable
  • Be achievable (If the goal is BIG, break it down into smaller pieces.)
  • Be written down (This serves as an additional source of commitment.)
  • Have a deadline

I also recommend having an accountability partner. Someone you can trust to be your cheerleader when you feel down, to help you get back on task when needed, and to just… be there.

Some people like to choose one word to be their focus for the next year. Words such as “balance,” “health,” or “creativity,” for example. I like to choose quotes to serve as my inspiration.

My inspirational quote for 2016 is from Eleanor Roosevelt:

“Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”

I created a LO using this quote both literally and as inspiration with my darling grandson:

How about you? There’s still time to set goals, write them down, grab an accountability partner, and enter 2016 with determination and direction.

For the Inspiration challenge, I am asking you to create a layout incorporating a word, a quote, or a photograph that has inspired you recently. I’ve created a small freebie to help get you started.  You do not need to use this freebie in the challenge. Please post links to your layouts in the comments (per the January Challenges at the Studio post).
