Adobe gives Photoshop and Photoshop Elements users multiple selection tools. Among others are the Lasso, Polygonal Lasso, and Magnetic Lasso, Quick Selection, and Magic Wand tools.
Drawing out a selection using these tools is usually easy enough, but sometimes selections can be tricky, or we might need to make an adjustment after the selection is made. Sometimes we just deselect and start over again. Or we can try using the add-to or subtract-from options in the top menu bar. But there’s also another way to help perfect our selections, and that is by using the Transform Selection tool.
In this image I have done a sloppy job of selecting my butterfly. The left tip of his wing is just slightly cut off, and the lower part of both wings are not included in the selection.
To adjust this selection: Go to the top menu bar: Select > Transform Selection. Transform handles are placed around the selection. We can change the shape of the selection by clicking on the handles and dragging them in the direction we want them to go.
If we right-click inside the selection, we will also have access to the other selection options, in case we need them.
I hope the Transform Selection tool comes in handy for you! Sometimes adjusting, rather than starting all over again is really helpful.

Thanks so much Karen. I KNOW this will come in handy. SO often I have started all over again. 😉
Thanks so very much for this tutorial and a great big thank you for the PDF file (love those PDF files). I have made such messes trying to use these but hopefully now I’ll be able to do it with success.
I had to check out all the Rainbow Bright selections in the store and love them. I especially love your word art; my little granddaughter would like them too. Hopefully I can get as many of them as I can sooner than later. Hope they stay there for a few weeks. What a great bargain they are.
Another new thing for me and so useful. Thank you so much, I agree with Carol, the PDF files are so useful.
