A couple of weeks ago, a fantabulous layout popped up in the gallery. I fell immediately in love with it & knew I had to create something similar. I just needed a couple of minutes, and the perfect photo’s. Today I found a little time, the perfect photo’s, the perfect collection and the same template Connie used.  Don’t you just love Connie’s layout?  You can see why I needed to scraplift this beauty:

I saw this gorgeous layout by Connie in the gallery & knew I had to scraplift it!

I have over 1,000 images from our trip to Portugal (Lost in Portugal; Fátima; Using Gradients to Blend Photo’s) waiting to be scrapped.  Some of my favorite photo’s are the ones I took on the beach at sunset. I love the beach. I love sunset. Sunset on the beach was the absolute best part of an amazing trip.  When I saw Aimee Harrison’s newest collection: Summer Bazaar hit the store, I knew I had my kit to scraplift Connie’s amazing layout. I used:

My next step was to recreate that fabulous sketch of the Eiffel Tower Connie used as a stamp on her layout. Obviously there is no Eiffel Tower in Portugal, so I used one of my favorite photo’s of an old building in downtown Lisbon:

I knew Karen, SnickerdoodleDesigns, had written a fabulous tutorial on our blog on how to turn any photograph into a sketch quickly & easily. I followed her:  How to Create a Sketch from your Photographs, to the letter. I LOVE how my photo turned out:

After following Karen’s How to Create a Sketch from your Photographs tutorial!

I then grabbed the same template Connie used from Heartstrings Scrap Art A Little Bit Arty #5:

I duplicated the template “Gesso” layer 3 times to get a mask and clipped my converted, sketched, photo over it… this gave me the same effect Connie achieved with her Eiffel Tower photo.  Then I just replaced the items in Bryony’s template with elements & papers from Aimee’s collection. Easy-peasy.  I am thrilled with how my scraplift turned out!

Give it a try yourself, with or without the sketch and show-off what you come up with!
