This busy Christmas season begs me to use as many shortcuts as possible. I’ve gone grocery shopping for 2 weeks at a time, instead of going every week. I’ve enlisted my husband to write Christmas cards. And I’ve decided my house does not need to be spotless, no matter how much I think it “should” be. The more time we can save during this month, the more time we have for scrapping, right?
I like using shortcuts in Photoshop, as much as I do in my daily life, so today I would like to share with you 5 of my most favorite and helpful shortcuts. With the exception of Shortcut #1, these all work in Photoshop Elements as well as Photoshop.
- If you are trying to decide whether a title looks better in all capital letters vs lowercase, it’s easy to switch from one view to the other using this keyboard shortcut: (With the text highlighted) Control + Shift + K. If you don’t like all capital letters, repeat the process to return to your original text.
2. When working with small elements, do you sometimes struggle to see exactly where you want to place them? Use this shortcut to view your document at 100%: Control + 1. Or if you want to see it even larger: Control + 0 (zero) to make your document completely fill your screen.
3. Use Control + – to reduce your image size. You may use this shortcut multiple times, and each time your image will be reduced even more in size.
4. Want to resize an image quickly? Control + Alt + I will bring up the Image Size Dialogue box.
5. When creating layouts do you use Guides? If you would like to have your guides snap to the ruler markings:
- Be sure you have View > Snap checked
- Shortcut: Shift and drag the Guide to where you would like it to be. It will snap precisely into place, when you let go of your mouse. No more zooming in at 100% to be sure you have the guide placed exactly right!
I hope you find these shortcuts useful, and that they help you as you scrap your favorite holiday memories!
Merry Christmas!
