Sometimes not just any old frame will do. Sometimes you want something a little more personal. And what is more personal than a letter. An initial? Using an alpha as a frame is a great way to really personalize a layout.
Confused what I’m babbling about? Let me show you using Dane as an example. I’m starting with a background paper from our upcoming Treat Mega Kit (available only DSD weekend!) and the letter D from Festival Of Colors – Autumn Alphas by JB Studio:
Now you could just stick Dane’s cute little face right in that center & call it a day. But. I’m in love with masks! I love how they spill out, how they make everything just a little more fun. Here I’ve grabbed a mask, again from our upcoming Treat Mega Kit and placed it in behind the D:
Next I add one of my favorite photo’s of Dane & create a clipping mask to attach it to the mask:
So far, so good. However. It’s not perfect, so I resize both the photo & mask. I give everything a little twist (Image –>Image Rotation) & I add a drop-shadow to the D:
Yay! That’s great! And that’s really it. For fun, and because I love this clean & simple Alpha, I added the rest of the letters to spell out Dane’s name:
Then I dug a little deeper into Treat Mega Kit and did a little embellishing:
Finally I added the whole thing to my layout & called it a day:
Give it a try! Use an Alpha in your stash as a frame & show it off in our gallery ❤
Great idea!! Love your layout, Toiny!! Thanks for the tip!

And that is gorgeous! But how did you ripe that paper Toiny???
I took that from a template Bryony (Heartstrings Scrap Art) created. Either from: https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/digital-art/templates/coastal-cottage/
or: https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/digital-art/templates/travel-addict-templates/
@Toiny, thank you so much ❤️
