We are counting down the days to ND2020! Join us for a little retrospective. A little Studio history. A little glimpse into our team now. A team that would not be what it is without our Next Designer competitions over the years.

Today let’s take a look at Manu Scraps. She’s not just an incredible Designer loved by many, she’s also an integral part of our Admin Team. I would lose my mind without her support & exceptional meticulousness in all her work. Her extractions are the best in the business. Hands down.

She almost didn’t enter. She was nudged, or pushed, by her friend Jill (the late, much loved, Jill Walls). Jill won that year, 2012, but Manu was runner-up & by November of that year a full-time Designer at The Studio.

In 2012 the prevailing theme was “Moon”. In the first round the challenge was to create a kit using both the Moon theme & the provided Moonrise palette:

Manu created an absolutely gorgeous kit that holds up to this day. I still love those papers!

Round 2 required the Designer Contestants to create their own palette & theme from an inspiration photo, while sticking to the general “Moon” theme.

Round 3 required Designers to show restraint & their talents with using just a hint of an accent color:

For the final round, the challenge was to create palette & theme while sticking to the Moon theme. Manu knocked it out of the park! I still love these colors!

Now Manu is our Featured Designer of the month & her Anthology collection, Boho Gypsy is insane! Her skills in bringing detail to even subtle color palettes help us create stunning layouts.

Are you going to be our Next Designer? Are you going to be the proud new owner of an IPAD? We’ve got prizes, mentors & more. All we need is you! It’s audition time for our ND2020!

All auditions must be posted no later than midnight Sunday May 31, 2020.
