Hello! It’s Ann here for a quick tip on making a plaid (or at least plaid-ish) background in 3 easy steps. I’m working in Affinity Photo, but these steps should be adaptable to most layer-based image editors.
Open a striped background .jpg paper, and duplicate the layer. CTL + J (Win) or CMD + J (Mac) keyboard shortcut.
Rotate the duplicated layer.
Change the blend mode to something that you like. I used Linear Burn for this paper.
I’ve created a little mini paper pack for you to try it out – 3 striped papers and one bonus plaid paper.
Experiment with blend modes. See what works for you and your images. Try mixing and matching papers, too! 😉
I made these papers with my Stars and Stripes Affinity Photo brush set.
My layout also uses ML Designs gorgeous frame cluster from Thrifty Treasures Clusters 02.
Enjoy!
Thank you for the download, but the only thing I got was the “read me” files.
Hi Lois,I’m sorry that something went wrong with downloading the paper pack. I checked the link and also tested it from another browser and was able to download the zip file. Could you try again and let me know if it still doesn’t work?
Perfect and quick! Great tip, Ann. Thank you! Download worked fine for me.
Thanks so much, Ann. My attempts this morning did not give me the option of putting in an order and downloading, so I was trying to download in the wrong place, I guess.
I have succeeded in downloading the zip file now and I’d like to thank you for the instructions and the attached file. Now I can go play!
Thanks for the quick tip Ann and for the download.
It worked for me, thank you so much!
Thank you, Ann! Love the quick tip — now I can make plaids with my favorite striped papers!! & thanks for the freebie; love the colors of the papers!!
Easy tip that looks great – thank you!
