Hi all! Dani here (Just Because Studio) with a fun Quick Tip today. Make your layout more eye-catching with a frame. You can frame your layout in many different ways, it can be a stitched border, an artsy edge, or even a paper border as you can see in my layout below. Let’s dig in & do this together.

I’m using two papers (and elements) from my 366 days collection. You can play along with any two papers. A bold pattern (such as a stripe or plaid) or a vibrant color (red, pink, neon!) work wonderfully as the background paper. I’m using a striped background paper.

  • Open you background paper first
  • Drag in your main paper above it

You can, of  course, resize the top/main paper. However, when we do that we sometimes lose key detail or features. Instead, we can keep the paper at 100% by adding a simple rectangle shape and clipping the paper to the rectangle. First, draw your rectangle shape.

  • Make sure you are on the Background layer before drawing your rectangle;
  • This ensures your Rectangle will stack underneath your main paper
  • Click on the Rectangle Tool in your left side menu bar
    • Make sure Shape is selected in your top menu
  • I drew my Rectangle at 3400 px X 3400 px

With your Rectangle 1 in place, clip your main paper using a clipping mask. TaDA! That’s it. You’ve got a wonderful, framed, paper stack to continue creating your layout.

I made some adjustments on my papers, including adding a shadow, then layered on my elements & photo.
