We got up extra early this morning because Tess had forgotten her to do her homework. As it turns out, first thing in the morning is a great time to do homework. She got third in a class competition (that I completely do not understand) using the “8’s”. A big deal since she was really struggling with remembering her multiplication tables.
I tried so hard to get a picture of her working through her problems this morning. None are clear. It’s possible my lack of coffee factor in this. Tess recently switched to a fountain pen. I remember graduating to fountain pen in third grade. It was a huge day in my life. Finally, finally I got to be a grown-up and write with pen.
We don’t do this in America, in fact, I don’t remember ever doing my math problems in pen, but in Germany this is still a big day. And watching Tess this morning, struggling with her “8’s”, using a pen no less, brought back very fond memories. I think I’ll try to snap this photo again. I definitely need to do this before she gets the hang of it and her fingers are no longer covered in ink.
I did get an awesome photo of the old truck parked outside of Dane’s kindy. As long as I had the camera out, I took it with me on my morning drop-off’s.
