Ahhhhh summer. Lazy days, kicking around, playing in the sun; I’m exhausted. My kids have boundless energy and can think of new games, new hobbies, new go! Go! Go! Every 10 minutes.

Soren’s latest passion is shooting a bow & arrow. Ever  since we got a brochure for the bow & arrow club down the road, last  fall, he’s had a bone he can’t let go. So this visit home we clicked on Ebay.de and bought a bow. Then we hunted down an arrow, finally buying one in the fishing store. Which, by the way, is the wrong place because the  arrow is the wrong length. Of course, the fishing store guy did explain he knew nothing about arrows and this was the cheaper arrow.

Cheaper arrow turned out to be a good thing. Arrows, once they are set free, fly far, far away. Most of our bow & arrow time was spent hunting for arrows. There is also something to be said for bow & arrow clubs and not losing arrows because they are prepared for bow shooter guys to miss the target… but I digress.

I hadn’t bought him a target, nor hunted down a bale of hay, so he begged Tess for one of her big stuffies. Luckily Tess has a habit of collecting big stuffies, and her room was, well, stuffed with stuffies. Soren picked a big rabbit, perfect for a bow & arrow adventure.

Once again I have no words to truly describe the joy Soren felt when the arrow connected with the rabbit. Pure joy, pure pride. Dane, however, and who knows why he thought the stuffed rabbit was in the field, in the line of fire, in the first place, was mighty upset the rabbit  was skewered.Bow & Arrow
