Introducing our Designer of the Month for November: Sonja of Synergy Ink. Sonja is one of our newest Designer, but she has rapidly grown in popularity and quickly proven to be a reliable, dependable, incredible team player. She is always ready to pitch in where needed, quick to lend a hand or happy encouragement. Her art is quirky, delightful and insanely fun to play with. Read on for a little more about Sonja, in her own words.
My name is Sonja and I live with my man and 2 sons in the Haarlemmermeer, in the Netherlands. We’re stuck between Amsterdam and International Airport Schiphol on 1 side and the tulip fields close to the Keukenhof and the beach on the other. I’m very honored to be the Designer of the month for November! The Studio is my home away from home! I started digital scrapbooking in 2011, and in 2016 I moved into designing. I’ve been with the Studio since 2018 and I couldn’t be happier!
Hi! My name is Sonja and I live with my man and 2 sons in the Haarlemmermeer, in the Netherlands. We’re stuck between Amsterdam and International Airport Schiphol on 1 side and the tulip fields close to the Keukenhof and the beach on the other. We moved here from Amsterdam about 14 years ago, so our kids would have the opportunity to grow up in a small town, play outside and enjoy the garden. And I have to say I love it here, because it’s so much better than our little Amsterdam flat, so no regrets!
I started paper scrapbooking waaaay.. back around 2011, when I had the bright idea to make a baby album for my kids. One day I was searching online for some elements to print and I stumbled upon digital scrapbooking by accident. I started experimenting with an old version of Paint Shop Pro and soon I was hooked! I never looked back and the unfinished baby album is gathering dust somewhere.
In 2016 I took the big step to designing after participating in a designer challenge on another site. I experimented and practiced my heart out, until I was confident enough to share my designs on Facebook early 2018. One day in April a message popped up from an amazing woman we all know as Danielle, aka The Urban Fairy, asking me if I would be interested in doing a collab with her? And after choking on my coffee and falling of my chair, luckily I still had the common sense to say YES! We worked on it for nearly 2 months and “Urban Nature” saw the light in June. After that things moved pretty quickly and I got the opportunity from Toiny to be a guest designer here at the Studio. I opened my shop in July and I immediately fell in love with this site, the designers and the customers.
When I’m not designing, you can find me outside in my little garden, or snuggled up on the couch with a good book, a cup of tea and chocolate..Or of course, getting my hands dirty with paint! I’m a big fan of Art Journaling and Mixed Media art and always looking for new ways to improve my designs.
And if you’re wondering how I chose the name Synergy Ink as a designer name; that’s because “Synergy” is one of my favorite words. It´s the creation of a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts and that´s what (digital) scrapbooking is! You mix some papers, some elements and a bunch of photos and it becomes a beautiful artwork, a precious memory and a keepsake.
I’m very honored to be the Designer of the month for November! The Studio is my home away from home! I love being a part of this wonderful group of talented designers and amazing customers and I don’t think there could have been a better team to motivate me to go further than I ever dreamed of going, for which I am very grateful. Thank you all so much for your support!
Hugs, Sonja
