Plaids can be very tricky to mix & match, especially on a layout. Luckily there are a couple of tricks to make it easy.
MIX SIMILAR COLORS
Plaids in the same color family work fabulously together. This is where using a plaid paper pack from one Designer is a huge helping hand. I’m using Thaliris Designs newest collection, Golden Autumn, in my examples today.
SIZE MATTERS
Try mixing two or more plaids in different size scales. Make one bigger, and one smaller. When you are adding in a 3rd, or even 4th, pattern, keep all of them small scale except for one larger scale plaid.
MIX HORIZONTAL WITH DIAGONAL
Mix horizontal and diagonal plaid patterns to create interest on you page. The mixing of plaids in different directions can give the illusion of cohesion. It can look as if you didn’t even mix two plaids at all! Give it a try?
Thaliris’ newest collection isn’t just plaids, it’s an ode to her love of Fall and all it’s beauty. Golden Autumn is part of her big birthday sale, and 40% Off through November 12, 2021. Be sure to pick up her Free Add-on:
That looks really good, thank you, I’m so glad you created this tip. It is not something I would try as I wouldn’t think too, due to the difficulty. I do love plaids but I don’t use them as often as I would like. I will be trying it out, fingers crossed.
